Who is SOTN Oceania?
SOTN is a not for profit ministry based in Melbourne Australia and is the ministry name for Roma and Ted Waterman.
The mission of SOTN Oceania is to provide training to worshippers and creatives. Our statement is “Finding the Song of the Lord in the Sound of the People”. We are passionate about raising up artists to release their own expressions of worship in authentic styles and sounds of their nations, in particular the Oceania Region.
Training involves running workshops, speaking at conferences, providing resources such as books and CD’s. It also involves an online training school that currently has over 9,000 students in 142 countries doing online courses in the area of singing, songwriting, worship theology and online course creation.
SOTN Oceania is part of a global movement headed up by USA founder and Global director Dan McCollam. There are currently Sounds of the Nations Directors in many countries of the world (You can check out our global team and vision at www.sotn.com). Currently there are 12 directors and 57 language groups represented. Our target is to capture the song of the Lord in the 389 languages which represent 98% of the world’s population.
Each director have their own ministries and bring their unique gifts to SOTN Global to help advance creative ministries within the church. We regularly connect and travel together and have seen our individual ministries grow exponentially as we have unified as a global team.
Who should apply?
Currently these roles are volunteer roles.
If you are passionate about ministry, about worship and training for worshippers please do not hesitate to apply.
You will have strong administrative skills. You will be able to work autonomously and be a self motivator. However, you must also be a good team player and willing to serve the greater vision of SOTN. You will love the local church and Indigenous people and love seeing people express who they really are.
Who should NOT apply?
We do NOT need worship leaders or creative ministries who have no experience in the below roles. You do not need to be musician or artist to apply for these roles, we need strong administrative skilled people with a passion to advance the kingdom who have a passion for the arts in the church. However, if you are both an artist, and also s gifted administrator, please do not hesitate to apply.

ON GOING ROLES
This is a VERY important role to us and requires an immediate start. Your role would be to facilitate the prayer covering for SOTN Oceania on an ongoing basis;
You would also organise monthly prayer meetings for our upcoming SOTN Conference held in Melbourne Australia;
You would need to recruit other people who would be willing to pray, in conjunction with Roma and Ted’s approval and suggestions;
You would set up prayer teams for during the conference (Sep 8-9th 2017);
Time: 1-2 hours per week. Must be available for the conference on sep 8-9th 2017.
This is an ongoing role.
- Book airfares, accommodation for Roma, and sometimes the family for ministry events;
- Schedule meetings, includes board meetings, general meetings and organising Roma’s schedule/diary;
- Respond to ministry invitations and schedule arrangements for those invitations;
- Fill in guest questionnaire forms and other requests resulting from ministry invitations;
- Help with planning of events (not main conference) – i.e. workshops, book launches, SOTN student gatherings, prayer gatherings etc (booking rooms, hire of equipment etc)
Time: 1-2 hours per week. Would need to be available for some events in person – i.e. book launches or workshops held in Melbourne.
Location: preferably Melbourne, Australia, but not essential.
Digital Content Manager/Social Media Expert
We are looking for someone who is passionate about marketing on social media platforms.
Your role would be to help promote the upcoming conference using your experience, training and knowledge in social media.
A knowledge of buffer required.
Part of your role would be to create social media picture posts with quotes from Roma’s books and schedule using buffer;
You will have the experience/ability to measure the success of different marketing implementation for feedback and improvement;
This role would be suitable for someone who is currently studying digital marketing (A student), or an experienced marketer who would like to contribute to the success of a not for profit christian ministry.
Time would be 1-2 hours per week.
Location: Can be anywhere in the world.
Are you passionate about raising finances to help missionaries travel, create more resources, or put on events and workshops to train others? Do you have a gift for raising money?
This role would be responsible for raising funds for yearly goals such as ministry trips, conferences and album recordings and online training resources.
You would have a gift for raising finances, have contacts and experience.
You would not need to be based in Melbourne to fulfil this role.
SOTN CONFERENCE ROLES
The conference co-ordinator is responsible for pulling all the different parts of the conference together. Our Australia conference will be held in Melbourne Australia on Sep 8-9th September.
Tasks include overseeing itineraries for guest speakers, travel arrangements (accommodation etc), green room (meals etc), arranging drivers for international guests, seating at the conference. You would also be communicating with organisers at the venue the conference is being held at, including making yourself aware of OH&S and the expectations and requirements of the venue hosts.
You would work with a team to help book sound and lighting, and co ordinate the volunteers alongside the volunteer co-ordinator. The volunteer co-ordinator would be answerable to you.
You would be required to help put together run sheets for the conference. Please note there will also be a stage director overseeing all the run sheets for the stage. You would be in direct contact with them leading up to the conference and would do this together.
This role will initially be 1-2 hours per week. Leading up to the conference it will be 5-6 hours per week.
You would be required to be available at the conference on Sep 8-9th September.
You would need to be available for monthly meetings and our monthly prayer meetings.
You would need to live in Melbourne, Australia to fulfil this role.
We are looking for someone who can manage all elements of the volunteer force for our upcoming SOTN Oceania Conference held Sep 8-9th 2017 in Melbourne, Australia.
He or she is typically responsible for recruiting, hiring, and placing volunteers, as well as training and managing them. To understand what type of volunteers are required you would be in contact with our conference co-ordinator on a regular basis. The Conference Co-ordinator would be your oversight.
You would be required to come to our monthly prayer gatherings and our monthly planning meetings in preparation for the conference.
Time: 1-2 hours per week from now until September 20th. (Conference is 8-9th September and then there will be a final follow up meeting).
You would need to live in Melbourne, Australia to fulfill this role.
